Towne Square: Our Community’s Central Spot

Any visit to Crane’s Mill starts with Towne Square—the community’s central spot for activities, dining, entertainment, and more!

Towne Square – the center of it all

A short, indoor walk from every apartment, Towne Square boasts a number of important destinations for our residents’ daily life. Each of our dining venues are located right in Towne Square. So, if you’re interested in a five-course, restaurant-style dinner in the Candleberry, a quick a-la-carte bite from the Heartwood Cafe, or groceries from the Corner Market, you simply follow the signs toward Towne Square.

Fitness and exercise are paramount as we age, and our gym and indoor pool are located just around the corner in the north end of Towne Square. We have aquatic fitness classes, water walking, and water aerobics in the pool, and a personal trainer and high-tech equipment in the gym.

Hinman Hall is right near the main entrances, and plays host to a variety of programs each week ranging from morning fitness classes and afternoon dance to informational lectures and live entertainment.

Bridge is a popular game at Crane’s Mill

For those looking to relax and spend time with friends, the Cherry Blossom Lounge provides a rich, club-like environment for games of Bridge and big screen TVs to watch the game.

Plus, we have a changing art gallery (this month we’re showcasing works from the Millburn Short Hills Art Cetner ), a bountiful library, and our resident-run Gift Box.

So, when you visit Crane’s Mill, be sure to take a walk around Towne Square and explore all the community’s central spot has to offer.

Celebrating Older Americans Month!

Join us in celebrating Older Americans Month!

Each May, we give thanks and celebrate a number of occasions: we’ve had dozens (and dozens and dozens!!) of floral bouquets delivered for Mother’s Day, our plants and trees are blooming, and the birds are chirping up a storm!

On top of all that, it turns out that May is also Older Americans Month! Plus, it’s the 50th anniversary of the Older Americans Act, aimed at promoting healthy aging and tackling serious issues that older members of our population may face, like disease and abuse.

At Crane’s Mill, residents are at the forefront of healthy aging. Each apartment is connected to Towne Square, providing indoor access to exercise classes, a state-of-the-art fitness center, indoor pool, and so much more. So, regardless of the weather, residents have access to an array of options to stay active.

A slightly further walk north (also completely indoors) takes residents to our wellness center. There, residents have access to our Wellness Director—an RN whose job is to manage the health and well-being of our independent living residents—as well as our Medical Director, an array of specialists, and even access to lab work. Imagine that—an early morning walk through our interconnected buildings to have a fasting blood test, followed by breakfast in the Heartwood Cafe!

We’re happy to celebrate this month, and are always looking for new ways to keep our residents happy, safe, and healthy as they age. To learn more about Crane’s Mill, call 973-276-6700 or click here to visit our contact page. We look forward to hearing from you!

A Look Inside the Crane’s Mill Library

Our continuing care retirement community is akin to moving to a small town, but everything’s connected by indoor walkways!

The Crane’s Mill Library is a popular spot in Towne Square. The library is completely resident-run, and includes an array of books including fiction, non-fiction, large print, and art. Plus, the library offers the latest issues of many periodicals, including the Star-Ledger, New York Times, AARP magazine, The New Yorker.

In addition to print, the library boasts two all-in-one desktop computers with internet access, a copy machine, and a Telensory machine that magnifies text and images up to 50x their original size.

Here is an inside look at some of our residents enjoying their library:
