Finally—It’s the First Day of Spring 2016!

In the cold, dark days of winter, spring can feel like a very long way off!

Crane's Mill Spring DaffodilsToday we celebrate the first day of spring! We’re so happy it’s here. As much as we enjoyed the holidays and lots of exceptional winter activities, there’s something about this season that makes us smile just a little wider.

Soon the birds will migrate, and our pond and woodland will be filled with warblers of all shades, and the spring flowers will bloom, brightening the landscape in colors that only nature can supply.

Outdoor exercise is a big part of our plan—our trail walking club will make their way out ever Friday, reporting back on their sightings and sometimes bringing photos to document their trips.

Barbecues on our patio will start soon, the perfect way to fuel up after a game of bocce, and grandchildren will visit to play both outside an in.

We wish you lots of fun times this spring season!

Outdoor Activities for Seniors – Some Fun Ideas!

It’s been a long, cold stretch, but spring is just a stone’s throw away! Here are some great tips on how to get outside and have some healthy fun as the warm weather rolls in!

A Crane's Mill resident enjoys a cup of coffee on the patio.

Just some of the tips include attending a sporting event, having a picnic, or bird watching!

The latter is perfect for Crane’s Mill residents—we’re located on 48 acres with a Certified Wildlife Habitat and pond, and we have walking paths leading right into the renowned, 1,300 acre West Essex Park! Birders have come to the area for decades to take in the array of wildlife in the area.

Don’t Forget—Spring Forward this Weekend!

Daylight Saving Time Begins on March 8!

It's time to spring forward—Daylight Saving Time begins March 8!

Before going to bed this Saturday, remember to “spring forward” to mark the start of Daylight Saving Time!

What a nice way to start a countdown to spring 2015 with longer days, and enough sunlight for an after dinner stroll.

Plus, it’s a good time of year to remember to test batteries in smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. It only takes a moment, and testing to make sure those 9-volt batteries are fresh and powered up could save your life.

Here’s to a bright, beautiful, healthy season to come!
