Letter from Family Member Touts Crane’s Mill Service, Attentiveness

Do you have a spare minute to read a letter from a family member? We’ve read it multiple times since receiving, and are excited to share with you:

Dear Crane’s Mill Staff,

I’ve been delayed in dropping you an email to thank you for the responsiveness of the Crane’s Mill staff when my dad’s heating system broke down last Saturday night, right in the midst of this ongoing abnormally frigid early January weather that we’ve been having.

When I called Crane’s Mill Security late last Saturday night, Pete answered my call and said he’d be over soon with electric heaters, so as to keep dad’s apartment safely warm until the system could be repaired on Sunday morning. Upon his prompt arrival, we met “Officer” Pete for the first time…and what a great guy! We quickly learned that he was a retired local police officer and that the overnight Security folks who work at Crane’s Mill are retired or current “first responders.”

While we offered my dad the option to stay at our nearby home that frigid Saturday night, he was very happy to remain safely at home in his own independent living apartment at Crane’s Mill, that was immediately made comfortable by your staff when his heating system failed. We are also very appreciative  of the prompt repair service your staff provided when his heating unit was diagnosed as defective and replaced first thing on Sunday morning!

Learning that Crane’s Mill employs first responders on overnight Security duty gave us great comfort, and then…it suddenly and unexpectedly came into direct play this morning when dad summoned for immediate help whilst in the midst of a medical event that required emergency surgery. When dad activated the Crane’s Mill emergency call system in his apartment, once again, it was our new friend “Officer” Pete who immediately responded and summoned the ambulance that brought him to the local hospital.

Dad and our family are now even more appreciative of the fact he lives independently at Crane’s Mill. Had he still been living alone so many miles away from our family, as he was until recently, we know that his medical event might not have had such a positive outcome as it did thanks to such prompt emergency action by the Crane’s Mill staff.

In closing, our family has so many great things to say about everything and everybody about Crane’s Mill (down to the local college and high school “kids” who serve in the restaurant and cafe) from our experience, so far.

Picture this scenario: your dishwasher stops working. Not being an appliance expert, you have no idea why it’s ceased operation, so you call a repair company or the manufacturer, schedule a visit, and usually with a few days or a few weeks (and sometime between 9 and 1, or 1 and 5, or 9 and 5!) the person comes, fixes the problem, and sends you a bill. OR they take a look and advise that it would be cheaper to replace the unit, and you head to the store to order a new one. All the while, you’re washing dishes by hand.

Now, picture the same scenario, but you’re a Crane’s Mill resident: your dishwasher stops working. You call the concierge, they alert maintenance, and usually that same day someone is there to fix the appliance. If our staff can’t fix it, they’ll replace it, free of charge.

This of course goes for more than just appliances. Our team changes light bulbs in ceiling fixtures, hangs your art and mirrors upon your move to the community, fixes plumbing issues, and so much more. You name it, they’ll fix it (or replace it), and there’s never an additional charge.
