Why Crane’s Mill Residents Love Our Location!

Crane’s Mill is located in West Caldwell, New Jersey. The retirement community’s location combines secluded nature with a convenient Essex County location.

Crane’s Mill residents love our location—it’s surrounded by nature yet close to everything.

‘459 Passaic Avenue’ sounds like a standard enough address. However, it’s anything but ordinary. Home to Crane’s Mill Continuing Care Retirement Community, 459 Passaic Avenue reads like a dream destination for those who like nature AND the allure of being in the heart of all the action.

The Crane’s Mill campus is situated on 48 beautiful acres with a Certified Wildlife Habitat and a picturesque pond. In addition, there are walking trails that lead to West Essex Park—a 1,361 acre park which is home to numerous trails, the Hatfield Swamp, and so much more.

Of course, that’s if you head west. If you leave the community via the main exit, you come to Passaic Avenue, which leads to the Caldwells to the North and Livingston to the South. In the Caldwells in particular, Crane’s Mill residents find themselves only one mile to shopping (Shop-Rite, Stop and Shop, Marshall’s, TJ Maxx, CVS, and many small shops, just to name a few), restaurants (Italian, Chinese, Japanese, American, and more!), and public transportation to New York City is across the street. Plus, downtown Montclair is only about 5 miles away, home to many acclaimed restaurants, shopping, and the Montclair Art Museum.

What’s more, Crane’s Mill is close to the Paper Mill Playhouse, Yogi Berra Stadium and Museum, the Turtle Back Zoo, the New Jersey Performing Arts Center, and countless other cultural attractions, malls, and movie theaters.

Then, when residents return home to Crane’s Mill, they’re back in the serene, quiet setting that feels like miles away from anywhere—yet it’s only one mile away from everywhere.

The Cherry Blossom Lounge—A Place for Crane’s Mill Residents to Relax and Unwind

Imagine being on an all-inclusive vacation…every single day. That’s the life for residents of Crane’s Mill in Northern New Jersey. Luxury apartments, fine dining and friends and neighbors to share in all the fun.

Could a person ask for anything more? Well, how about a private lounge complete with fine furnishings, flat-panel television and a key club?

Crane’s Mill residents “see” your luxury lounge and “raise” you the fact that it’s located in Towne Square, so it’s connected to every apartment home in the community. We’ll go “all-in” and tell you that residents have impromptu card games, and can easily “up the ante” by arranging to have catered food and reserved tables with a simple phone call to our concierge.

Think we’re bluffing? Take a look for yourself at our video slideshow! You’ll see our actual residents enjoying good times at The Cherry Blossom Lounge—something we see on a daily basis at Crane’s Mill!

Finally—It’s the First Day of Spring 2016!

In the cold, dark days of winter, spring can feel like a very long way off!

Crane's Mill Spring DaffodilsToday we celebrate the first day of spring! We’re so happy it’s here. As much as we enjoyed the holidays and lots of exceptional winter activities, there’s something about this season that makes us smile just a little wider.

Soon the birds will migrate, and our pond and woodland will be filled with warblers of all shades, and the spring flowers will bloom, brightening the landscape in colors that only nature can supply.

Outdoor exercise is a big part of our plan—our trail walking club will make their way out ever Friday, reporting back on their sightings and sometimes bringing photos to document their trips.

Barbecues on our patio will start soon, the perfect way to fuel up after a game of bocce, and grandchildren will visit to play both outside an in.

We wish you lots of fun times this spring season!
