Celebrating April Birthdays in Style

Celebrating 16 birthdays on this special day

At Crane’s Mill, 16 independent living residents are celebrating their birthdays in April! From the Crane’s Mill Courier, we would like to wish each of them a very happy birthday!

Today is a special day at Crane’s Mill—every month, there is one designated ‘Birthday Night’ during which all Crane’s Mill residents are invited to come together to celebrate those born in that month. Tonight, we are going to celebrate the April babies in style with delicious birthday cake, treats, coffee and more.

Perhaps that’s part of the beauty of living in a smaller retirement community. Not only does the staff always know your name, so do your fellow residents—and they’re able to come together in one spot to celebrate life, friendship, and happiness.

In Bloom: Signs Say Spring has Sprung in New Jersey!

Just when you thought winter would not end, along comes the second week of April and with it wonderful blue skies and warm temperatures. In addition to the weather, there are some other distinct ways to know that spring is here:

-Beautiful, bright yellow daffodils now line the walkway leading into Towne Square.

-Activities for the month include spring-centric outings to Brookdale Park in Bloomfield for a Trolley Tour and the Montclair Art Museum for “Art in Bloom.”

-It’s time for the annual Crane’s Mill Spring Tour of Homes Open House! On April 25th, we’re opening up the community to visitors to enjoy a tour of an array of apartments and cottages, including brand-new independent living homes in our Creekside building. Check it Out: The Renovated Crane’s Mill Library

The Crane’s Mill Library offers residents volumes of information and fun, right in Towne Square

Crane’s Mill residents love having access to a full-service library just a few indoor steps from their front door.

The library features a large selection of fiction and non-fiction, biographies, reference, and periodicals including daily newspaper deliveries and an array of magazines. Computers with internet access, printers and copy machines ensure that are residents are attune to all the latest goings-on. Plus, our resident book club members enjoy the library as a gathering space to discuss their latest literary endeavors.

As part of our recent renovations, our resident Library received a wonderful facelift. Included were updates to shelving, paint, flooring, curtains and furniture. Still to come are two brand-new all-in-one desktop computers (we hear they are slated for delivery next week). Here are some images of the finished library, along with some behind-the-scenes shots of the renovation in-progress. Enjoy!
